CSR General
Our Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives are multi-faceted and include:
Cycling from Land’s End to John O’Groats
In 2013, in support of the Mayor’s charity and through the CFFC, a team of 7 riders cycled the length of the British Isles. This epic 937 mile journey enabled us to raise £150,000 and place 25 young people into meaningful apprenticeships in Calderdale.

Following the ride a spin-off charity, ‘Working Wonders’, was formed. Martin Haigh played a part in this and, through the efforts of all the people working in the charity, a further 70 young people were found work.
Calderdale Council Head Start and Work Choice programmes
We had the privilege of creating and delivering ‘work-ready’ programmes to disadvantaged groups and unemployed young people. We had around 150 delegates, over 20 cohorts. We assisted in finding work for the group and, shortly after the programme many were employed in meaningful work.
Enterprise for schools
Thousands of school children, in Calderdale, have benefitted from Lattitude7’s ‘life skills’ tuition. Key Stages I and II learn enterprise skills. The children set up and run mini-businesses and fully appreciate CSR. Pupils present cheques to the local Hospice or other worthy causes.
Personal Development and confidence in secondary schools
Lattitude7 has given hundreds of pupils focused training in communication skills, interpersonal skills, team working and leadership. These pupils, at a critical age, now behave in a way which is more appropriate for aspiring young adults entering the world of work.
Graduate Surgeries for ESOP (EuroBrake Student Opportunities Programme)
Over the past four years around fifty students from around the world are given the chance to attend the EuroBrake conference. Martin Haigh facilitated surgeries, throughout the week-long conferences, to support these 200 newly qualified graduates in acquiring essential skills for the workplace.
Supporting new business start up
In 2018/19, Lattitude7 ran a number of pro-bono communications training sessions for the Ad:Venture programme which supports businesses, less than 3 years old, to grow and survive.
Ad-hoc employability coaching for young people
We have supported countless individuals and groups in improving their ability to find and stay in secure, interesting employment and helping them to:
• Have greater confidence, attitudinal and social skills
• Move up the social ladder
• Have resilience to overcome ‘mis-hire’ syndrome
• Earn a wage allowing them to support their needs and those of their family and, in turn,
• Be mentors for other young people
Free-of-charge Stage Fright Presentations Skills programmes
With our associates we often run free-of-charge Presentations Skills programmes. We just ask delegates to make a donation to a nominated charity. For example, from one event we raised £1,000 for ‘Focus4Hope’. This win-win allowed delegates to receive vital skills on presenting to improve themselves and their businesses and the charity was able to provide essential dental treatment to refugees in Calais.
Triathlons for SCOPE and WORKING WONDERS charities
Martin completed a full Ironman and two half-Ironman triathlons raising £6,000 in the process.
Added Value
To reinforce our programmes we’ve published a number of books to help young people with confidence, health and work-readiness:
• Start Line – running for a better life (get off the couch, clear the mind and be fit for work).
• Cycle for Work – a history of the LEJOG ride, raising £150,000 to get 25 young people in work
• Have Fun with Fitness – an illustrated story to help parents and young children understand and take action against obesity. An enterprise project with primary children to capture the interest of this age group.
• Get Ready for Work – an interactive career planning guide to feel positive about moving on to a secure career path. Content is cross-referenced to Gatsby Benchmarks.
